Falkland Islands 'Black and White Wigeon' or 'Wigeon', a resident breeder, length: 51 cm (20 inches), male and female are alike. Widely distributed but not common. Likely to be seen on large freshwater ponds and lakes but does appear in coastal areas as well.

In the Falklands this is no longer a game species but is protected under the conservation of Wildlife and Nature Ordinance 1999.

Chiloë Wigeon are found in Southern South America as far north as Brazil to Tierra del Fuego and the Falklands.
